Sharpie Evolution. Rewind and find the story of sharpie’s evolution. Once there was some soft rocks. A cave man discovers this rock and that he can use it to make marks on the stone walls. From there the soft rock melts into a liquid and a hand from a formal tribe is using the liquid to paint on surfaces of other objects. Then the wooden bowl holding the liquid morphs into an ink bowl where an individual from the 800s in a civilized community like the Romans or in China where dipping their writing utensil in the ink. After the writing utensil absorbs the ink and solidifies again to become a pencil like object used by a 1800s western society writing up documents. The ink melts into a pen and in 1900s used as a modern pen. By 1964 sharpie is now developed. Sharpie is the combination of all the writing utensils in the past and should only be used by individuals who have the confidence to accept the best method to write over centuries is with a sharpie.

Sharp Idea 43 Be Absurd
What if sharpie were in the hands of a monk. Strange idea. All I know about monks are probably stereotypical. I picture them just like the people on that mountain in China in the second Karate Kid with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. Either way if sharpie were with monks there it would sit with all the other monks on top of some risky looking cliff contemplating the answers to all the worlds problems and becoming one with nature. Very peaceful and tranquil scene. However, this story is just getting started. One evening a lost traveler ran into the monk with sharpie he asks
“Please, I need your help. I was traveling in the mountains and lost my way. It will be dark soon and I need to find the city. Do you know which path is the right way?”
The monk looks at his a sharpie reply’s
“Any way is the correct way if you run down that way with confidence. Observe”
And the bewildered man watches as the monk uncaps his marker and throws the sharpie leaving a solid bold mark on the stone path.
“Now, this is my way.” says the monk.
The lost traveler watches closely as the monk travels on the path the sharpie just drew and continued walking. He looked over the monk’s shoulder and saw lights of the a city becoming brighter as the dusk reaches it peak hour.
The next day the sharpie monk is honored with the a medal from the elders signifying he is the embodiment of confidence and that shall be his signature trait. His insight. The topic he shall meditate on for the next 50 years. With the medal bestowed upon him, he sits on his risky cliff and meditates with the sharpie in his hands.

Then added some contrasting colors, touched the tone up, and had him hold a sharpie. However, I did not add the slight glow feature around his head and shoulders. The curious tint of lighting came from the original image itself and could only really be seen once I added in the contrast and dimmed down the brightness. Maybe he really is enlightened in this state. 
Sharp Idea 42 Be Absurd
There are some videos that are all over the internet and everyone knows of them but when people watch they just ask themselves “why”? The silly cat videos, talking animals, or videos that just add a silly tune and becomes a sudden viral video. They are absurdly random but you know the original creator of the video had the confidence to upload it. He or she didn’t care at all about all the negative feedback from the work that obviously took some time and even creativity. So for those people, there could be an ad campaign that is super random about sharpie but they don’t care because its sharpie and sharpie is confident. These images were taken off the internet however the words and addition edits were made by me in photoshop. These are my illustrations but could also be expanded upon on a commercial or video. 
Sharp Idea 41 Anything Goes
I would like to admit that I am a hard-core fan of the Gilmore Girls tv series. While rewatching the series I have gotten to a point where the daughter, R
ori, is filling out an application to Harvard, her dream school. Since these episodes were filmed back before the CommonApp and other electronic applications, her application was mailed to her and expected to be filled out and mailed back in the packet. Of course since I look at everything in the form of a sharpie post, this one episode inspired the idea of looking at Harvard, or some other Ivy League, school’s admissions board. While they are reviewing the many applications completed in pencil, some in pen, the pay even more notice to the application filled out in sharpie permanent marker. In a effort to support sharpie there would be a panel of admissions board members standing around and looking at the application filled out in sharpie. Not only did the student stand out, they didn’t mail their application in with the mix of all the rest but also had the confidence to fill out their application in thick bold ink to stand out above all the rest. In the end all the admissions board members are all nodding their heads and a giant red stamp of approval is left on the application. In an effort to use a new medium I decided to draw. By draw I mean doodle but depicting a visual image of how I feel many times. 
Moments in time come like these. Sometimes I will be sitting in class and staring at the clock. Or maybe I am working and the last hour of a 6hr long shift is dragging on that I wish I could just fast forward to end it. Then once moments like the first two doodles are over, I look back and realize I have partially wasted that time and am now further behind in my endless list of things to do and demands to be met and such does describe the bottom clock. I am currently in a position that I feel time has swept me away and no matter what I do I can’t seem to keep up. Shifts for two jobs, last tests, projects, and finals are all hitting me like a wave. I read from “The people of New York” Facebook that one woman said when a wave comes dive underneath it, because if you try to run you will be swept away, and if you try to face it standing your ground…you will still be taken over by its force. Therefore, the best thing to do is dive under. Currently I am tackling every to-do list from school and trying to make everything semi work out. However, maybe I am not tackling this right because I think instead of compromising my time with everyone I am just making them all mad. This is the metaphorical part of the wave that is currently crushing the life out of me. Maybe I should just quit these jobs so I can focus on school? I’ve never been much of a quitter tho. So maybe if I stay confident in my intentions to keep everyone happy I can do so and still study hard if I just work on my communication skills and tactics. Back out of nothing I say, because that just makes everyone even angrier. Try and keep school first. This is the home stretch of the semester and it is always the hardest. Take my time, not panic or rush into decisions, and don’t let the clock crush me. I am strong, I am confident, I can do this, I want to succeed, I will dive beneath the wave.
So what does this have to do with sharpie? This is a real world problem and one that, through posting is actually kinda therapeutic, but beyond that these sharpie posts are ones that I believe help me get through the craziness of everyday. Everything I know involving my job, a big part of my life, might change but at least I know there is one thing that remain constant; I have to do these 54 posts. From my own discussion I now know that while I should be patient I must also be confident when making decisions. Signs of wavering only cause others to become less confident in me therefore making them even more angry. So maybe I will doodle with a sharpie more often. It will help me practice my confidence because you can’t erase any doodle you dislike. Much like in life once you make a percent mark you can either run with it or create it into something entirely new. Either way, that mark will always be there. Sharpie’s mark is permanent, practice creating confidence.
Sharp Idea 39 Anything Goes
There are several creative things sharpie helps brings to life. So my idea was to have possibly an actor, or comedian, on stage pretending to be some mustached country guy when all of a sudden his fake mustache falls off. In this event the man confidently raises his finger under his nose and on it, written in sharpie, is a mustache and he goes on acting. He has saved the act, the show goes on, and the crowd enjoys the entertainment as well as the humor. Moral is, always have a sharpie and you and you will never again suffer an embarrassing moment. To carry a sharpie is to carry a confidence boost back up at all times.
Sharp Idea 38 Anything Goes
Unfortunately, most of my nights are riddled with nightmares, scary, or uncomfortable dreams. I don’t know why my dreams are always this way but because of this I rarely watch scary movies. However, I would like use this feature of myself as my inspiration for a sharpie idea. In an illus

I was inspired by a couple of advertising campaigns who use their products to build the brand. In the idea that sharpies brand is confidence and a fun way to muster the feeling of confidence is in a game of truth or dare. My idea was to have a fun mini game of double dog dares written on the sharpies or their boxes. The dares would all have the theme that encourages confidence in the individual or for another. For example,”Tell someone you love how you feel”. In a commercial advertising this dare, the person would write a love letter in sharpie and had it to their crush. Another idea could possibly be something like “write ‘confidence’ on a paper airplane and let it fly from a height in the direction of a crowd of people.” All of these would help build the idea that confidence can lead you to do amazing things. 
Sharp Idea 36 50 Ideas FAST

I was inspired by a fun idea and a popular meme online; “meanwhile in an alternate dimension”. So in an alternate dimension sharpies are people and people are sharpies. To incorporate this idea I thought of having a video or picture of people on the street who are leaving a trail in the footsteps where they walk. A particular man is in a sulking, grey, unfortunate mood. He has been through the ringer as an artist as a writer. Non of the publishers will take his manuscript. After this event when he walks he leaves a pencil trail which is quickly faded and dispersed by the walking trail of others. This is a metaphor for the idea that his confidence is so low there is no way he can leave a permanent mark on the world. He visits publisher after publisher and gets emails only saying “we’ll let you know”. Non of which are very promising. So finally, he sits down in a park and receives a phone call. Not knowing what he heard, all we see is him running into a building and to a desk where he is handed his manuscript with green sharpie edits scribbled all over but a large approved sign to publish the first 500 copies. His face lights up and when he exits, gripping both his novel and the sharpie his trail now is solid green for his confidence, prosperity, hard work, and dedication gets permanently make his mark.
Sharp Idea 35: List 50 ideas FAST!
I had to write these down so I could throw down ideas fast. I jotted ideas down in increments. When I would think of one thing, immediately the idea would be followed by 3 or more. I also had some help through collaboration means for generating ideas. Some of the randomness produced ideas that I would never really use, but throwing every first thing that came to mind does help because by the end of the 50 list I did have at least 4-5 possible beginnings to some promising ideas.
